Keys to the Problem Wireless Internet is not working, ran the diagnostics "DNS server unavailable (308)" showed up.

Hi Jenna,

Thank you for posting your question in Microsoft Community.

The issue could be caused if network discovery is not turned on or WLAN service is disabled

1.
Which diagnostics did you run?
2.
Have you made any recent hardware or software changes to your computer prior to the issue?
3.
What is the make and model of the computer?

Follow the methods:

Method 1:

Network discovery is a network setting that affects whether your computer can find other computers and devices on the network and whether other computers on the network can find your computer.

I would suggest you to follow the steps in the section “To turn on network discovery” from the link:

What is network discovery?:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-is-network-discovery

Method 2:

Verify with the WLAN service is started and set to automatic, if the WLAN service is stopped, I would suggest you to start the service and put it to automatic.

Please follow the steps to start the WLAN service.

a)      Click on Start, type in
services.msc
b)      Select WLAN Autoconfig from the list, Right click properties
c)      Change the startup type to Automatic
d)      Click on Start button
e)      Click on Apply, Ok.
f)       Restart the computer and verify if it works.

Method 3:

I would suggest you to run a network diagnostic tool and check hope that will fix your issue.

To perform this troubleshooting problem, please follow the steps.

a)      Click on Start, click Control Panel.
b)      Click on Network and Internet, and then click on
Network and Sharing center.
c)      Under Network and Sharing centre, click on
Troubleshoot Problem.

For additional information on how to troubleshoot common network problems, please refer to the links:

Using the Network troubleshooter in
Windows 7
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-the-Network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

Method 4:

If the issue persists, then I would suggest you to download the latest network adaptor drivers from the manufacturer’s website and install the same on the computer and check.

The majority of connection problems within Windows 7 have been solved by installing the latest driver for the wireless network adapter obtained from the manufacturer.
Download and install the Windows 7 compatible drivers
and check if the issue gets fixed.

Refer the following Microsoft article for more information on updating drivers:
